Adult Literacy Program

Program description: The Adult Literacy Program at Old Sun Community College provides students with foundational skills in English and Math. Completion of the program will prepare students for the next stage of their educational journey.


ELIGIBILITY

To qualify for enrollment or funding prospective students must be:

  • 18 years of age or older

ADMISSIONS

Admission is on-going throughout the school year

The following credentials will be needed to complete the admission process: 

  • Meeting with Adult Literacy Coordinator
  • Band number
  • High school transcripts
  • 45-minute assessment test which will determine your enrollment into the program or into the adult high school program

NOTE: Staff will assist you with requesting transcripts and filling out forms as needed.

COSTS & FEES

Program Costs

  • No fee for courses in the Adult Literacy program
  • No fee for books and supplies
  • $ 20.00 monthly bus pass (depending on the available space)

FUNDING

Living Allowance: Students who are currently receiving regular benefits (Living Allowance) through Siksika Income Support will continue to receive benefits under the Learners Benefits. There is no Living Allowance available through other programs for the Adult Literacy Program.

PROOF OF REGISTRATION

Once you have met with the Coordinator and have been accepted into the Adult Literacy program, you will receive a Proof of Registration letter. This letter will be available at the time of intake. Please bring your Proof of Registration to the first day of school.
