Denise Peterson was born and raised in a farming, ranching community in south-eastern Alberta, and currently resides in Strathmore. She has worked in education for nearly 4 decades as a teacher, administrator and consultant.
In 2003, while a Principal with Golden Hills School Division, Denise was invited to open an Outreach School in partnership with the Siksika Nation. She spent the next 16 years working with Siksika and is profoundly grateful for the nurturing and teaching she has received from the Siksika people.
Today Denise resides in Strathmore, Alberta with her husband Roger Nelson. Denise continues to work as an Educational Consultant and serves as a Councillor for the Town. In her role as OSCC Board member she is committed to advocating for the College and for educational opportunities for the Siksika people.
